SEVENTEEN's DK and Vernon to Begin Mandatory Military Service in August and September

SEVENTEEN members DK and Vernon are preparing to begin their mandatory military service, according to an official announcement from their agency. On July 27, Pledis Entertainment posted a notice titled “SEVENTEEN DK and Vernon Military Service Information” on the fan communication platform Weverse, confirming the timeline for both members.
Per the announcement, DK will enlist as an active-duty soldier in the South Korean Army on September 8. The agency said he will finish all of his scheduled activities before entering service, and confirmed there will be no separate public event held on the day of his enlistment. Pledis Entertainment specifically asked fans to refrain from visiting the training center, noting that the enlistment ceremony is a private occasion shared by numerous recruits and their families.
Vernon, meanwhile, will begin his alternative military service on August 20. As with DK, the agency requested that fans avoid visiting his assigned workplace while he carries out his duties, citing similar privacy considerations.
Pledis Entertainment noted that although both members will be unable to take part in SEVENTEEN’s group promotions once their service begins, they intend to keep in touch with fans—known as CARAT—through pre-recorded content prepared in advance. The agency closed its statement by asking for continued support so that DK and Vernon can complete their service and return safely.
The enlistments continue a process SEVENTEEN entered in 2024, as the group’s members have gradually begun fulfilling South Korea’s mandatory service requirement. Jeonghan was discharged from alternative service last month, while Wonwoo, Hoshi, and Woozi are currently serving. With DK and Vernon’s enlistments now scheduled, the group moves further into a period defined by staggered individual service commitments even as it continues limited activity through its remaining members.
